Wolf and Coyote

Wolf and Coyote in
The Northern Shoshone
by Robert Lowie, 1909.

Here is the Latin you need to understand the story; I have linked to the story page by page with the Latin passages below:

p. 239

Lupus, "Homines oportet ex digito nasci sine coitu," inquit.
Wolf said, "People should be born from a finger without sex."

"Bonus est coitus, ex utero nasci oportet.
(Coyote said), "Sex is good; people should be born from the uterus."

Melli est coitus."
Sex is sweet."

p. 240

Conspectis pudendis muliebribus tu certe coitum concupisces.
After you've seen the female private parts, for sure YOU are going to want to have sex.

Conspectis pudendis Canis libidine accensus se continere non potuit.
Having seen the private parts, Coyote was inflamed with lust and could not hold himself back.

Prostrata muliere cum ea concumbere conatus est.
When the (Bear) woman stretched out (on the ground), he tried to lie together with her.

p. 242

Cum earum pudendis quasi copulare vellet ludere incipiebat.
(Coyote) began to play with their private parts as if he wanted to have sex.
("they" are the girls whom Coyote is escorting to bed, disguised as an old woman)
